In this “toddling” period, children in the Movement I room will most likely begin, however shakily, to walk on their own. This is the major milestone in their quest for independence. As physical freedom is archived, they are ready to turn their absorbent minds toward more mentally and physically complex and challenging endeavors. Specifically designed and handcrafted sensorial equipment and educational toys in our Movement I environment enable a child’s sensory exploration to fulfill his/her need for sorting, stacking, carrying, problem – solving, language acquisition, maneuvering, and color and taste discrimination.
The one-year old child is learning to take control of his/her world. The toddler’s motor and speech development allows them to interact more meaningfully with the people around.
