November 20, 2017 by Primary One

Welcome back, we hope you had a good weekend and enjoyed the cooler weather.

We read Leaves Fall Down by Lisa Bullard and learned that leaves have red, yellow, orange, and brown colors underneath their green color that they show when they are ready to fall off the trees.

On circle we worked on numeration (1-5) and (1-10) with our cards and counters lesson in the math area. The children were excited to see the new turkey numeral cards in the lesson.

Soccer Shots and Chapel have been cancelled this week.

We talked about the first thanksgiving during our circle today. We learned that the Pilgrims sailed across the ocean on a ship called The Mayflower and landed in a town called Plymouth. We also learned that the Pilgrims received help from the Native Americans to build their homes, plant vegetables, hunting, and making fire without matches. During our work time the children worked on a color by number turkey worksheet. They are excited to take it home and show off their coloring skills.

The children had fun playing with “snow” in Jumpbunch. Coach Luca brought in “snow balls” for them to throw and collect in a basket. They had a great time!

The children started working on a fun art project. Be on the look out for it soon.

Did you know that junk food taste really yummy? We worked with our healthy and junk food lesson in our science area, we classified picture cards of different types of food into healthy and junk and discovered there is a lot of junk food that is really yummy. We talked about being able to have junk food at special times and in moderation.

November 14, 2017 by Primary One

We had a great time in music class yesterday afternoon. Mr. Jason brought in a book about Yankee Doodle and shakers for us to play. The children had a fun time marching and listening to him play a flute that he brought as well as his friend Bob the Clam, the children found it funny when Bob tried to play the flute! We had fun playing a guessing game as Mr. Jason played songs on his flute and we tried to guess what song he was playing the children were great guessers and named all the songs he played!
