Hello!
This week the children had a review lesson on the parts of the flag we get ready for our independence day weekend. The Pledge Of Allegiance is said every morning and the children all do a great job honoring the American flag.

Today our study was on the hammerhead shark. Cool facts we learned;
-it has no nose so it breathes thru its gills
-if it stops swimming it can’t breathe
-it has a flat head & big eyes
-it has a soft skeleton which allows it to bend & twist
-cartilage is what its bones are made of like our ears
I also introduced our shark water exploration tub. It has 14 different types of sharks that the children can observe and play with. It also contains a few other sea creatures.

We worked on the days of the week lesson in the science area, reviewing the names of the seven days of our week. We learned that our week starts on Sunday but our school week starts Monday.
The children worked on their fine motor skills with a boot perforation square that we used for an art project.
Reminder:
There will be no Splash Day this Friday, July 1, 2016. We will be celebrating the 4th of July, please wear red, white, and blue.

Today we started our week off reading about the great white shark. We learned that he is able to see very well in the dark, he has a great sense of smell ,he can be as big as ½ a school bus and he has three rows of very sharp teeth.
We then created our very own shark bite art. Check out the front door to our class. Yikes!! There are some scary sharks and funny ones too!
